Documents Needed

Documents Needed for Employment

Here you will find information on the process for obtaining the 2 items that you will need in order to finalize your teaching position offer as well as to prepare for obtaining a Thailand Non-Immigration B visa and Work Permit. Those 2 items are Legalizing Your Degree and Obtaining a Police Background Check.

The process for each country is below (click on the flag) but read the "Very Important" information first.

Very Important

Degree Legalization

You must have your degree legalized at the embassy of the university location, not your nationality.  For example, if you are a Canadian with a degree from a U.S. university, you must have the degree legalized at the U.S. embassy. Please do not have your degree legalized from the wrong country.

Degree Translation

If your degree is not written in English, you must have it translated into English to be legalized along with the degree itself.  There are many translation services including at, or around, the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs where you must have your degree certified at the end of the legalization process.

Police Background Check

You should obtain your police background check from your country of nationality.  The background check can’t be more than 60 days old at the start of employment. Each country’s process is different but we provide basic information. If you have been residing in Thailand more than 30 days, you must also obtain one from the Royal Thai Police.
